Young Tigers lose to Pakistan

Bangladesh Under-19 National Team suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Pakistan in the second and final match of the Twenty20 series between the sides in Multan on Friday.

This brought the series level to 1-1, following Bangladesh’s 2-1 series win over the hosts in the One-Day series.

Batting first, Bangladesh managed 163-6 as nobody but Jishan Alam managed to stand up. His 73 runs from 40 balls, where he hit nine fours and two sixes, gave Bangladesh a brilliant base but nobody from the lower-order could carry the momentum to give them a bigger score.

In reply, Pakistan barely broke sweat as they went on to chase the total down with 10 balls and seven wickets in hand.

They lost both their openers, Basit Ali and Shawaiz Irfan, early to see themselves reduced to 20-2, and Mohammad Tayyab Arif being sent back saw them down to 46-3.

But from there on, skipper Saad Baig and Arafat Minhas put together an unbeaten 119-run stand to take the hosts home.

Baig scored 79 off 50 deliveries, where he hit eight fours and three sixes, earning him the player of the match award. Minhas scored 50 off 37 balls.

Tanvir Ahammed picked up two wickets for Bangladesh, while Parvez Rahman took the other.
