Miraz climbs to 3rd in ODI all-rounder rankings

Mehedy Hasan Miraz joined Shakib Al Hasan in the top three of the ICC Men’s One-Day Internationals all-rounder rankings and is currently third behind Shakib and Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi with 284 rating points, his career-best.

Miraz was pivotal in Bangladesh’s recent ODI series win over India as he scored 141 runs and took four wickets to lead Bangladesh to consecutive home series wins over their neighbours.

ICC’s updated rankings, published Wednesday, saw Miraz progressing three steps ahead to replace Afghan All-rounder Rashid Khan at third. Miraz started the series with 253 rating points, and after his match-winning innings in the first ODI and another brilliant knock in the second ODI where he scored his maiden ODI century, he reached 284 points, which was enough to put him in the top three.

Shakib Al Hasan tops the ranking with 389 rating points, while Nabi is ranked second with 310 points.

Mahmudullah Riyad, after his important knock of 77 runs in the second ODI, has progressed two steps to 35th in the batting rankings. Mushfiqur Rahim, scoring only 37 runs in three matches, has dropped down to 23rd.

Tamim Iqbal, despite not playing the series, is still Bangladesh’s top batsman in the rankings as he is at 16th with 655 rating points.

Shakib has progressed one step in the bowling ranking as he moved up to eighth with 652 points following his performance in the India series where he took nine wickets in three matches. Mustafizur Rahman is just behind him at ninth with 638 points.

Despite improving in the all-rounder rankings, Miraz lost 17 points in the bowlers’ rankings and has dropped out of the top ten. He is currently placed at 13th.
