Nasum in, Ebadot, Shoriful, Anamul out for 2nd Test

Bangladesh Cricket Board has called up Nasum Ahmed for Bangladesh national team’s second and final Test of their two-match series against India at Mirpur.

Aside from Nasum’s inclusion, Bangladesh brought three more changes to the squad as Ebadot Hossain, Shoriful Islam, and Anamul Haque were axed for the last match.

Nasum, who is more known as a limited-over specialist, has been included in the side due to skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s shoulder and rib injuries, which prevented him from bowling in India’s second innings and only allowed him to bowl 12 overs in the first.

“We have picked Nasum as the backup of Shakib. Shakib has some injury problems and there is uncertainty regarding whether he can bowl or not. Nasum has international experience. If he gets an opportunity, I hope he will do something good,” Minhajul Abedin, chief national team selector at BCB, said to a national online media.

Ebadot has been ruled out of the second Test with a back injury which prevented him from bowling in the Indian second innings. Injury is also the cause of Shoriful’s exclusion as the left-arm pacer, albeit not playing the match, injured his hamstring in training.

The second Test of the series will begin at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on December 22.

Bangladesh lost the first Test by 188 runs and currently trail the series 1-0.

Bangladesh squad for second Test: Shakib Al Hasan(C), Zakir Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, Rejaur Rahman Raja.
