BPL starts Jan 6, final on Feb 17

The ninth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League will begin on January 6, 2023, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka with the clash between Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Strikers and will end with the final on February 17.

The second match of the day will be between defending Champions Comilla Victorians and Rangpur Riders.

The other two teams in the tournament are Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers. The tournament will be played in two other venues besides the SBNCS – the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram and the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.

The first phase of this edition will run from January 6 to January 10 at Dhaka, before the tournament shifts to Chattogram from January 13 to January 20, where 12 matches will be played.

After a couple of days of play in Dhaka on January 23 and 24, it will move to Sylhet for five days, with eight matches being played.

The remainder of the tournament will then move back again to Dhaka, where after the initial stage, the play-off stage and the final will be played.

The top two teams of the league stage will play the first qualifier, with the third and fourth team playing the eliminator. The winner of the eliminator and the loser of the first qualifier will play in the second qualifier.

The final, which will see the winners of the first and second qualifier face off, will take place on February 17.

All the play-off matches and qualifiers have reserve days in place in case of weather or other disruptions.
