Shakib continues on his good run

Shakib Al Hasan once again led his side to victory with all-round performance as Fortune Barishal triumphed over Comilla Victorians to move up to the second position in the points table at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday.

Shakib scored a brilliant 81 off just 45 balls with a strike rate of 180, hitting eight fours and four sixes in the process. He was impactful with the ball in hand as well.

Comilla Victorians skipper Imrul Kayes opted to bowl first winning the toss. Coming to bat, Barishal started well as they kept the run rate going forward but they lost early wickets. After the end of powerplay Barishal were 50-2 when Shakib came to bat.

Coming to bat, Shakib took over the lead and started to boost the score with boundaries and over boundaries all over the ground.

Barishal skipper hit a boundary through the backward point on the first over he played when Khushdil Shah tried to bowl a shorter against him. He came on the pitch in the seventh over and played till the end of Barishal innings while batter on the other end kept on going back to the pavilion one after another.

Shakib’s fiery 81 saw Barishal put a total of 177-6. Shakib was brilliant with the ball as his spell helped his team to defend the total. He was the most economical bowler as he gave away only 11 runs in his three overs taking one wicket, with an economy rate of 3.70.

Shakib was once again named the player of the match for his match winning performance.
