Struggling Dhaka to face table toppers

Struggling Dhaka Dominators will face Bangladesh Premier League 2023 points table toppers Sylhet Strikers in their fourth match of the tournament at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.

Dominators have played three matches so far and have managed to win only one which was against the Khulna Tigers, who are yet to win a match in the tournament, which puts on the fifth position with two points.

Strikers on the other hand, have stormed through the Dhaka phase of the tournament with four consecutive wins out of four matches resulting in topping the points table with eight points with an incredible net run rate of +2.072, better than any other team in the BPL.

Dhaka started the tournament with a win over the Tigers thanks to the brilliant performance of their bowling department which restricted them on 113/8. But when they faced Strikers in the first round they were completely overpowered in every department as Mashrafe Mortaza’s side put a gigantic target of 202 ahead them where they were able to get to 139 losing all the wickets resulting in Strikers winning the game by 62 runs.

The toppers have dominated the tournament so far as they are yet to lose a game. Moreover, the highest run getter Towhid Hridoy (195) and the most wicket taker Mashrafe (7) are from the Strikers. Dominator’s Al-Amin Hossain has also taken seven wickets but their batters are yet to put up a show.

This will Dominators’ second match in the Chattogram phase, they were completely outplayed by the hosts in the first match where they lost the game by eight wickets. They would like to return to the winning run defeating the toppers. If they can do so, it will highly boost their morale going further into the tournament.

The Strikers will surely want to add numbers in their consecutive winning run depending on Hridoy, Zakir Hasan or their Pakistani recruit Mohammad Amir, who are all having a good time in the tournament.
