Sylhet Strikers registered yet another win to their name as they beat Dhaka Dominators by five wickets in their first match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.

With the win, Sylhet are now four points clear on the top with five wins from five matches and are the only side in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2023 yet to lose a game.

After winning the toss, Dominators skipper Nasir Hossain decided to bat first but Sylhet bowlers did not give them any space to open their hands as Rubel Hossain struck in the first over to get Dominators opener Soumya Sarkar trapped LBW.

Later, it was all Imad Wasim who led the bowling attack striking thrice to restrict the Dominators to 128-7. Nasir scored the highest, 39, for the Dominators, and took two wickets with the ball afterwards.

Chasing the target, Strikers started their innings cautiously but reached the total comfortably to win the game with five wickets and four balls remaining, thanks to their opener Mohammad Haris’ 44 and Mushfiqur Rahim’s 27. Haris hit five fours and two sixes in his knock and kept the scoreboard rotating when his fellow opener Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed cheaply.

Strikers’ batter Towhid Hridoy, the leading run scorer of the tournament, missed the match due to injury.

Strikers’ Pakistani recruit Imad Wasim was named the Player of the match for his brilliant performance with the ball.

Strikers will play Comilla Victorians in the same venue today.
