Kings extend lead in BPL

Brazilian forward Robson scored a brace as star-studded Bashundhara Kings extended their lead in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football beating Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 3-1 goals on Saturday at Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka.

Apart from Robson’s two goals, Uzbek midfielder Asror Gofurov scored a beautiful solo goal for the Kings. Nigerian forward Mfon Udoh netted one for Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra.

The match was going deadlock till the half time, but saw four goals in the second.

After the barren first half, Robson finally broke the deadlock scoring the first for Kings in the 65th minute from penalty while Asror Gofurov doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Kings in the 73rd minute of the match.

Nigerian forward Mfon Udoh took one goal back threatening for a tight match for the Kings in the 82nd minute but his efforts were in vain as Robson sealed the final nail in the coffin scoring his second and third goal for the Kings in the 90+5th minute of the match.

Bashundhara Kings dominated the game as they had majority of the possession, especially in the second half, they were much more aggressive and finally notched their victory while Sheikh Russel KC were off of form as they lost every battle in possession. Except for that one goal, Sheikh Russel weren’t able to do much.

With the win saw the defending champions Bashundhara Kings extended their lead to 21 points from seven wins in seven matches while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra remained at their previous credit of seven points playing six outings.
