Bangladesh take on Bhutan today

Bangladesh will take on Bhutan in their third and last league match of the SAFF Under-20 Women’s Championship today at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka.

The match kicks off at 7 PM, following the day’s other match between India and Nepal that begins at 3 PM at the same venue.

After a fabulous start to their campaign, title-aspirant India were held to a goalless draw by Bangladesh. It was a close contest from the opening exchanges, with India creating more scoring chances despite a deluge of midfield traffic.

After the match, Bangladesh head coach Golam Rabbani Choton expressed his satisfaction over his girls’ performance against India. Custodian Rupna Chakma was superb under the bar foiling some real attacks and the head coach must be looking forward to a similar performance against Bhutan.

Bangladesh currently have four points from their two matches while Bhutan, who are already eliminated from the title race after losing their first two matches, are yet to secure any points.

A draw against Bhutan would seal a place in the final for Bangladesh if Nepal lose or draw against India. Even if Bangladesh lose, a Nepal defeat would see them qualify for the final. Earlier, Bangladesh beat Nepal by 3-1 goals in their opening match.

After the league stage, the two top teams will play the final on February 9 at 6 PM at the same venue.
