‘India can go to hell’

Former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad hit a bombastic charge on the Board of Control for Cricket in India, saying ‘they can go to hell’ in response to their refusal to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council, said BCCI would not send a team to Pakistan to participate in the Asia Cup 2023 amidst the bitter political relations between the two nations and suggested the tournament be held on a neutral ground. Pakistan have the hosting rights of the Asia Cup 2023 as things stand.

Miandad reacted sharply to ACC postponing the declaration of the venues even though they have the hosting rights and demanded ICC to take action on the matter.

On Jay Shah’s comments, Miandad clarified their stance stating they didn’t care if India wanted to go to Pakistan or not.

“I have always been saying, if India don’t want to come, we don’t care. They can go to hell. We are getting our cricket. It’s ICC’s job to control such things, else there’s no point of having a governing body,” Miandad said speaking to the media.

Ahead of the incident, an emergency ACC meeting was held in Bahrain, where both the BCCI secretary and PCB’s Management Committee Chairman, Najam Sethi were present, but no solution could be reached.

Previously, when Ramiz Raja was in charge of PCB, an official on their behalf, claimed that if India didn’t come to Pakistan, Pakistan would have to reconsider whether they would participate in any future cricketing events, including the 2023 ODI World Cup.
