Nine Bangladesh players on auction list

Nine Bangladesh players have been included in the auction list of the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League, India’s franchise-based T20 league.

The nine Bangladesh players are- Nigar Sultana Joty, Jahanara Alam, Salma Khatun, Shorna Akter, Rumana Akter, Lata Mondol, Nahida Akter, Ritu Moni, and Sobhana Mustary.

The auction list includes 409 players in total, who were picked from the initially selected 1,525 players. Out of 409 players, 246 are Indians and 163 are overseas players of which eight players are from associate nations. The total number of capped players are 202 and uncapped players are. A maximum of 90 players can be drafted from the auction, including 30 overseas players, by the five franchises.

The auction will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on February 13.

Salma and Rumana have set their base prices at 40 lakh Indian Rupees, making them part of the 30-player group to set their base price at that level.

Jahanara, Nigar, Nahida, Lata, Ritu, and Sobhana have set it at 30 lakh Indian Rupees. Shorna, who played in the recent U19 T20 World Cup in South Africa has set her base price at 20 lakh Indian Rupees.

A total of 13 players have set their base prices at 50 lakh Indian Rupees, which is the highest in the auction. Among them is Indian youngster Shefali Verma.

The first edition of the WPL will begin on March 4 and will end on March 26. All 22 matches of the tournament will be played at the Brabourne Stadium & D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
