Hridoy gets maiden ODI call-up

Youngster Towhid Hridoy, following a brilliant Bangladesh Premier League campaign, has been called up for the national team for the first time as he was included in the Bangladesh One-Day Internationals squad for the first two matches of the series against England.

Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal is back in the squad after missing the India ODI series due to an injury.

Four players have been dropped from the ODI squad against India – Nurul Hasan Sohan, Anamul Haque, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, and Nasum Ahmed.

Two players brought in are Hridoy and Taijul Islam.

Hridoy had a stellar BPL campaign for Sylhet Strikers as the batter scored 403 runs in 12 innings, ending the tournament as the third-highest run-scorer.

Najmul Hossain Shanto has maintained his spot in the ODI squad despite being dropped from the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s central contract for the format.

The ODI series against England will begin on March 1, and the following matches will be on March 3 and 6. The first two matches will be at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, while the third will be at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
