Shadman hits ton in BCL final

BCB South Zone opener Shadman Islam hit a hundred on the first day of the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League against BCB Central Zone to take his team to 234-3 in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday.

The left-handed batter was unbeaten on 130 at the end of the day, alongside skipper Fazle Mahmud, who is on 55.

Shadman hit 18 fours and a six on the first day, playing 265 balls in his 12th First-Class century.

South Zone skipper Fazle won the toss and opted to bat first and their openers, Shadman and Pinak Ghosh (16), brought them a good start before Hasan Murad trapped the latter LBW to end the 46-run opening stand. A 42-run partnership between Shadman and Anamul Haque (23) followed before Abu Hider Rony got rid of the latter. However, that was the last bit of joy for Central Zone as Shadman and Fazle put together an unbeaten 137-run partnership.

Shadman reached his fifty off 115 balls and took 99 more balls to reach triple figures. Fazle reached his fifty off 134 balls and has played 155 balls in his innings so far, hitting five fours.
