Avik Anwar became the first Bangladeshi to win back-to-back races on an F1 track as he won the final race of the UAE Gulf ProCar Championship.
Anwar had already created history last month when he became the first Bangladeshi to win in an F1 track racing winning round one of the five rounds of the same championship. After winning back-to-back races, he finished third in the overall standings.
After the race, Anwar wrote on Facebook, “I won the last two rounds of the Gulf Pro Car Championship. This is the first time a Bangladeshi racer won back-to-back races in history. This is also the first time in my career that I have achieved this feat.”
The racer changed his team and joined VR1 Racing & Auto Maintenance after the first round and said they had to face lots of difficulties to get there.
VR1 Racing & Auto Maintenance is a team consisting of all Bangladeshi members. The racer thanked the team for their hard work and support.
Anwar said, “I feel proud to bring this success in the month of independence, it has a special feel.”
“Please support and pray for me that I can continue the winning spree,” he added.
The UAE Gulf ProCar Championship is a touring car racing series that takes place every year in the United Arab Emirates. The series is designed for GT3, GT4, TCR, Renault Clio, and other specifications of GT and Touring/Saloon/Prototype race cars.
