Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club thrashed Agrani Bank Cricket Club by 203 runs as the defending Champions won their second consecutive match in the Dhaka Premier League in Savar on Saturday.

Agrani Bank were all-out on 114 in their chase of 318, Mohammad Elias and Jahid Javed scored 24 each, being their highest scorer. Azim Nazir Kazi was the only other batsman to be able to get into the double digits with the bat, he scored 15.

With the ball, Sk Jamal’s Saif Hasan took three wickets, while Parvez Rasool and Shafiqul Islam bagged four between them.

Before that, Agrani Bank won the toss and sent Sk Jamal to bat first.

Sk Jamal’s openers Saif Hassan and Shykat Ali made 127 runs in the opening partnership. Shykat scored 78 runs before getting out, Saif scored 108. Fazle Mahmud Rabbi then took the total to 317 with his 80 runs innings off just 57 balls.

Prime Bank edge Brothers Union

Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Brothers Union by 58 runs in their match at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Narayanganj.

Prime Bank were sent to bat first as Brothers Union won the toss and opted to field.

Prime Bank put a total of 268 runs on board thanks to Prantik Nawrose Nabil’s 83 and Shahadat Hossain’s 43. After both openers were out, Brothers Union fought back and put Prime Bank under pressure as wickets kept coming at a regular interval.

Coming to chase 268, Brothers’ Sabbir Hossain’s ton went in vain as their innings ended on 210 and they fell 58 runs short.

Prime Bank’s Rejaur Rahman Raja took four wickets, while Rubel Hossain took three to help his team secure their second consecutive win in the league.

Sabbir takes Rupganj to victory

In the other match of the day at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Legends of Rupganj beat City Club by seven wickets, thanks to Sabbir Rahman’s unbeaten 110.

Coming to bat first, Abdullah Al Mamun’s 51 led City Club to 248-10 as no other batter could make their innings big. Naeem Islam jr and Al Amin Hossain led the Rupganj bowling attack to restrict the opposition under a comfortable total as they picked up three and two wickets respectively.

Chasing City Club’s 248, Legends of Rupganj reached the target with 7 wickets and 52 balls remaining. Sabbir led the chase as he was unbeaten till the end on 108, Opener Parvez Hossain Emon scored 39 off 43 balls. Skipper Irfan Sukkur played an impactful innings of 74.
