Abahani’s winning streak continues

Abahani Limited continued on their winning run as they thrashed Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by 10 wickets to register their fifth consecutive win in the current edition of the Dhaka Premier League at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Narayanganj on Tuesday.

With the win, Abahani now top the league with 10 points from 5 matches.

Winning the toss, Abahani skipper Mosaddek Hossain decided to field first. Coming to bat first, Rupganj Tigers found themselves under Abahani’s bowling department’s grasp as they only managed 36 runs in the first 10 overs giving away three wickets.

Rupganj Tigers Skipper Naeem Islam then built a partnership of 30 runs with Ankit Bawne, which was the highest partnership in their innings. Naeem scored 33 and Ankit scored 21. Later, Alauddin Babu’s unbeaten 19 led the Rupganj Tigers to a meagre 127.

On the other hand, Abahani bowlers executed their team plan brilliantly to restrict the opposition as Tanvir Islam took three wickets while Mohammad Saif Uddin, Rakibul Hasan, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took two wickets each.

In reply, Abahani’s Anamul Haque’s unbeaten 80 led his side to clinch a 10-wicket win. Anamul hit seven fours and five sixes in his innings and was named the Player of the Match afterwards. The other opening batter, Mohammad Naim, at the other end, scored 43 off 52 balls. Abahani reached the target within 19.1 overs, which boosted their net run-rate.

City Club beat Dhaka Leopards

City Club beat Dhaka Leopards by six wickets to register their first win in the league at BKSP in Savar.

City Club won the toss and sent Dhaka Leopards to bat first.

In their innings, Dhaka Leopards were all out for 162. Their opening batter Mohammad Jashim Uddin scored 52, the highest of their innings, while Shohrawordi Shuvo scored 30.

With the ball, Asif Hasan and Rafsan Al Mahmud took three wickets each, while Ahmed Shahadat and Robiul Haque took two each to dismantle the Dhaka Leopards’ innings.

In reply, City Club reached the target with six wickets and five overs in hand, courtesy of Shahriar Komol and Rafsan Rahman’s half centuries. Komol scored 69 and Rafsan scored 50.

With the win, City Club moved up to the eighth position in the league.

Brothers Union find first win

Brothers Union found their first win in the DPL as they beat Agrani Bank Cricket Club by three wickets in their match at BKSP-3 Ground in Savar.

Brothers Union opted to field first after winning the toss and Agrani Bank put 286-9 on the board. Agrani Bank skipper Marshal Ayub scored 63 off 62 balls while Shadman Islam and Shamsul Islam scored 57 and 50 respectively.
