Anamul Haque hit his third century of the ongoing 2023 Dhaka Premier League which helped Abahani Limited pick up their seventh consecutive win by thrashing Prime Bank Cricket Club by 141 runs at BKSP on Tuesday.
Anamul’ 153 helped Abahani pile up a massive 336-6 and in reply, Prime Bank, who were left without key players due to Bangladesh’s Test against Ireland, could only manage 195.
Batting first, Abahani’s opening pair of Anamul and Mohammad Naim gave them yet another brilliant start, adding 183 runs.
Naim was close to a century but missed out as Karim Janat got him on 94.
However, Anamul continued on his merry way, reached triple figures and kept on going, with help from Afif Hossain, who scored 53 off 47 balls.
Their partnership of 107 runs was broken when Rubel Hossain got Anamul, who by then had constructed a brilliant innings hitting 13 fours and five sixes.
In reply, Prime Bank could not even gather a fight as none of their batters reached the fifty mark, with skipper Yasir Ali Chowdhury top-scoring with 45.
A meek batting performance saw Prime Bank bowled out for 195, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib starring with the ball for Abahani, picking up four wickets.
Besides Sakib’s four-wicket haul, Tanvir Islam, Mohammad Saif Uddin, Rakibul Hasan, Danish Aziz, and Ripon Mondol picked up one wicket each.
This win has put Abahani at the top of the table with 14 points from seven matches.
