Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Agrani Bank Cricket Club by 39 runs on Wednesday to secure their second win in 2023 the Dhaka Premier League at BKSP-4 Ground in Savar.
Mohammedan won the toss and skipper Imrul Kayes opted to bat first.
Coming to bat first, Mohammedan scored 220-9 after playing 50 overs courtesy of Soumya Sarkar’s 56. Shuvagata Hom scored 29, the second-best, while Jake Lintott scored 25.
For Agrani Bank, Arafat Sunny took three wickets for 27 runs. Abu Haider and Anamul Haque took two wickets each while Mohammad Sharifullah took one.
Coming to chase Mohammedan’s 220, Agrani Bank stumbled in the first over as they lost opener Azmir Ahmed and Shahanur Rahman in the same over and were forced onto the back foot.
Agrani Bank couldn’t fight back from there as they lost wickets in a regular interval and were eventually all-out on 181 in the 49th over.
Shamsul Islam Anik scored the highest, 46 for Agrani Bank. Azim Kazi Nazir scored 38.
Mohammedan’s Nazmul Apu and Mushfik Hasan led the bowling out of Agrani Bank claiming three wickets each while Lintott and Shuvagata bagged two each.
This was Mohammedan's second consecutive win, having lost four and sharing points in one game due to inclement weather in the first five matches.
City Club beat Shinepukur
At the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Narayanganj, City Club beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by 23 runs to secure their third win this season.
Shinepukur won the toss and sent City Club to bat first. City Club put 226 runs on the board before getting all-out in the 49.2 overs.
Maaz Ahmed scored 65 for City Club while Shahriar Komol made 54.
For Shinepukur, Nabil Samad took three wickets while skipper Farhad Reza, Mehedi Hasan, and Hasan Murad took two wickets each.
In their innings, Shinepukur were all-out for 203 in 41.4 overs and fell 23 runs short despite opener Jisan Ahmed’s 86. Amite Hasan scored 53.
Robiul Haque scalped three wickets for City Club while Ifran Hossain and Rafsan Al Mahmud bagged two each.
Brothers Union win
In the other match of the day, Brothers Union beat Dhaka Leopards by five wickets at BKSP-3 Ground in Savar.
Sent to bat first, Dhaka Leopards were all-out for 198 in 48.4 overs. Suhrawardi Shuvo scored the highest for his team – 45 – while Raqibul Hasan scored 31. Brothers Union’s Arafat Sunny took three wickets while Mehedi Hasan, Saad Nasim, and Rahatul Ferdous took two wickets each.
Coming to chase, Tanzid Hasan’s 71 helped Brothers Union reach the target in 41.5 overs. Tanzid hit eight fours and three sixes in his innings. Myshukur Rahman scored 51.
