Rasool fires Sk Jamal into top two, Prime Bank thrash Dhaka Leopards

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club’s Parvez Rasool dropped a match-winning performance to take his side into the second position of the Dhaka Premier League points table as they beat Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by two wickets at BKSP on Friday, while Prime Bank Cricket Club thrashed Dhaka Leopards by six wickets at BKSP-4 Ground.

With their win over Rupganj Tigers, Sheikh Jamal now sit second with 14 points from seven wins in eight matches.

Winning the toss, Sheikh Jamal sent Rupganj Tigers to bat first where they were bowled out for 199, courtesy of Rasool’s brilliant bowling, who took four wickets for 35 runs.

Sheikh Jamal’s Mrittunjoy Chowdhury also performed well as he took three wickets. Shafiqul Islam and Saif Hassan bagged one wicket each.

For Rupganj Tigers, Salman Hosain scored the highest with 45. Sunzamul Islam and wicketkeeper-batter Imranuzzaman scored 44 and 35 respectively.

In reply, Sheikh Jamal DC reached the target with two wickets and 13.3 overs left depending on skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan’s 49, who missed out on a half-century. Towhid Hridoy scored 43 and opener Saif Hassan

scored 39.

Nasum Ahmed and Alauddin Babu took two wickets each for the Rupganj Tigers. In the other match of the day, Prime Bank overpowered Dhaka Leopards to move into the top four of the points table as they now have 12 points from their eight matches. They are tied with Legends of Rupganj in points but Rupganj have a better net run rate.

Prime Bank opted to field first winning the toss.

In their innings, Dhaka Leopards were able to put 148 on the board courtesy of Suhrawardy Shuvo’s 53 and Raqibul Hasan’s 32.

Prime Bank’s Allis al Islam took three wickets while Al Amin and Rakibul Atik took two wickets each.

In reply, Prime Bank reached the target with six wickets in hand depending on Shahadat Hossain Dipu’s 43 and skipper Mohammad Mithun’s 38. Dhaka Leopards’ Ariful Jony took two wickets for 27 runs in his 10 overs.
