Mohammedan Sporting Club secured their third consecutive victory in the 2023 Dhaka Premier League as they beat City Club by 101 runs at BKSP-3 Ground in Savar on Saturday.
City Club sent Mohammedan to bat first, where they put a total of 348-7 depending on skipper Imrul Kayes’ brilliant century.
Imrul scored 114 off 121 balls while veteran Mahmudullah scored 71 off just 59 balls. Mahidul Islam Ankon played a quick knock of 65 runs off 52 balls to propel the Mohammedan innings at the death, alongside help from Shakib Al Hasan, who was playing his second game of the DPL campaign, as the all-rounder scored 26 off 16 balls.
For City Club, Rafsun Rahman took three wickets while Al Mahmud and Asif Hasan took two and one wickets respectively.
Coming to chase Mohammedan’s 348, City Club finished their innings on 247-7 falling 101 runs short.
Abdullah Al Mamun scored 70 off 65 for City Club while skipper Asif Ahmed scored 52.
For Mohammedan, Jake Lintott took three wickets with the ball while Shakib, Nazmul Islam Apu, Soumya Sarker, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket each.
With the win, Mohammedan moved up to the sixth position in the points table with 7 points from eight matches.
Gazi Group thrash Agrani Bank
Gazi Group Cricketers thrashed Agrani Bank Cricket Club by seven wickets in their DPL match at BKSP.
Winning the toss, Gazi Group skipper Akbar Ali sent Agrani Bank to bat first where they were bowled out for 169.
Azmir Ahmed scored the highest 37 for Agrani Bank. For Gazi Group, Tipu Sultan picked three wickets, while Sumon Khan took two.
In reply, Gazi Group reached the target with seven wickets in hand as they chased it down in 38.2 overs to secure their third win in the league.
Mehedi Marof scored 67 off 97 balls and was named the Player of the Match.
Brothers Union find third win
In Narayanganj, Brothers Union found their third win of the season as they beat Shinepukur Cricket Club by six wickets.
Sent in to bat first, Shinepukur Cricket Club stumbled in the first over as they lost opener Mahfijul Islam without scoring a run. Shinepukur lost their second wicket in the third over and were down to 12-2. Subham Sharma took control from there and took his side to 228-9 as he scored 74.
With the ball, Mehedi Hasan, Saad Naseem, and Arafat Sunny took two wickets each respectively.
Coming to chase Agrani Bank’s 228, Brothers Union reached the target with six wickets and 90 balls to spare, courtesy of Saad Nasim’s 62 and Arafat Sunny’s 55.
