Bangladesh National Cricket Team will leave for their three-match series against Ireland in Chelmsford, England on May 1, a Bangladesh Cricket Board official informed on Monday.

The Tigers will play three One-Day Internationals, which are part of the ICC World Cup Super League, against Ireland from May 9 to 14 in Chelmsford.

On Sunday, BCB revealed the squad for that series as Mahmudullah Riyad was left out while Mrittunjoy Chowdhury got his first-ever call-up to the national team as a replacement for the injured Taskin Ahmed.

BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus told the media on Monday that the team will undergo a training camp at Sylhet before they leave for England.

“There will be a camp at Sylhet after Eid. Maybe for 2-3 days. We have chosen Sylhet because of the wicket and conditions. The camp is likely to start on April 26-27. The team will leave for England on May 1,” he said.

While the team will reach England a week ahead of the series on May 2, Liton Das, who is currently in India to play in the Indian Premier League for Kolkata Knight Riders, will join a couple of days later.

“Liton has asked for a couple of days extra. The team will arrive there on May 2 and he will probably get there on May 5. We have agreed to that,” Jalal said.

However, Mustafizur Rahman, who is also playing in the IPL for Delhi Capitals, will arrive on May 2.

The three ODIs against Ireland are part of the Super League, although Bangladesh have little stake in the matches as they have already qualified for the 2023 World Cup in India.

On the other hand, Ireland need to win the series 3-0 to keep their hopes of qualification alive.
