Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim climbed up five steps in the ICC Test batting rankings published on Wednesday following his outstanding performance against Ireland in Dhaka earlier this month.
In the one-off Test against Ireland, the middle-order batter hit a century in the first innings and then an unbeaten fifty in the second to guide the Tigers to a seven-wicket win.
Mushfiq currently sits 17th in the rankings with 674 points, his second-highest haul in his career.
He is now the second-highest-rated Bangladesh batter in the rankings behind Liton Das, who dropped off a couple of steps to 15th.
Among others, Bangladesh Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan moved up a step to 38th, while Tamim Iqbal dropped down three steps to 42nd. Mominul Haque also dropped down one step to 61st and Najmul Hossain Shanto fell eight steps to 82nd.
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who picked up nine wickets in that Test, moved up three steps to 20th. Shakib also moved up three steps to 26th. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is also at 26th after dropping down four steps.
Pacer Ebadot Hossain obtained a massive leap in the rankings as he moved up 15 steps to 67th. Khaled Ahmed and Taskin Ahmed dropped down three and two steps respectively to be ranked 88th and 89th, while Shoriful Islam stepped up a couple of steps to 90th.
In the all-rounder ranking, Shakib and Miraz kept their place at third and 19th.
India’s Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin currently top the all-rounder and bowler rankings respectively, while Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne is on the apex of the batter rankings.
