Mustafizur Rahman proved to be costly as Delhi Capitals lost their fifth consecutive match in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League as Royal Challengers Bengalore beat them by 23 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Mustafiz was the most expensive bowler for Delhi as he gave away 41 runs in his three overs with an economy of 13.66 while remaining wicketless.
In the match, Delhi won the toss and sent RCB to bat first.
Mustafiz was brought into the attack by Delhi skipper David Warner in the third over against RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. He bowled a dot to start his spell but du Plessis hit a couple of boundaries in the next two balls and ran for a single in the next. His first over ended by giving away 10 runs.
He was given the ball in the 10th over where he conceded two sixes and a boundary, giving away a total of 19 runs.
Mustafiz, being Warner’s death over partner with Anrich Nortje, was again brought back into the attack in the 19th over where he was once again targeted by the RCB batters and conceded 11 runs, which led RCB to a total of 174-6.
After the first innings, Mustafiz was subbed off as Prithvi Shaw came in as an impact player.
Coming to chase, Delhi’s innings ended on 151-9 and fell 23 runs short. Only Manish Pandey could score a fifty for them as the others faltered yet again, resulting in another defeat.
