Abahani Limited are the current table toppers of the Dhaka Premier League after 13 matches and will look to solidify their position as they will face Legends of Rupganj at BKSP-3 Ground in their Super League clash in Savar today.

Back-to-back wins in the Super League have put Abahani in the top spot with 24 points, and another win would take them one step closer to the DPL glory.

Abahani entered the Super League as the league leaders with 10 wins from 11 games and have carried their incredible form into the second phase as they handed arch-rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club a defeat before taking the top spot defeating Prime Bank Cricket Club by 42 runs.

Legends of Rupganj are currently in fifth place with 18 points and a win over Abahani might keep them in the title race.

Legends of Rupganj came to the Super League finishing third in the league stage behind Abahani and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club with 16 points from 11 games. Their start in the Super League did not go as planned as they faced a massive 173-run defeat against Prime Bank in their first match.

They came back strongly in the second match to beat Gazi Group Cricketers by four wickets.

With an in-form team, especially their batters, Abahani would be the favourites against the Legends. Naim Sheikh and Anamul Haque occupy the top two spots in the most run scorers’ chart. Afif Hossain also played an amazing innings of 111 runs in their last game.

After Afif’s brilliant innings, Abahani coach Khaled Mahmud said, “I believe Afif is desperate to return to the national team. He has got time to think and to improve, Premiere League cricket is not easy, it’s high-quality cricket.”

Champions Sheikh Jamal DC will take on Prime Bank at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka as both have the chance to catch up with Abahani if they lose points in any case.

Sheikh Jamal DC came to the Super League being in tremendous form but was brought down to the grounds as they were defeated by seven wickets in the first match of the second phase of DPL after being bowled out for 89.

They bounced back in the second match and defeated Mohammedan SP by 85 runs in the DLS method after rain interrupted the play. Now they have the chance to move up to second place to keep the pressure on Abahani.

After winning the first match in the Super League by 173 runs against Legends of Rupganj, Prime Bank lost their second match against Abahani by 42 runs. they are now third in the table with two points. A win against one of the title contenders in Sheikh Jamal here could be proven huge in the final rounds.
