Young Tigers concede series to Pakistan

Bangladesh Men’s Under-19 Cricket Team lost conceded their three-match One-Day series to Pakistan as they lost the second match by 78 runs at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday. Pakistan have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Pakistan set a target of 272 for the Young Tigers after being sent to bat first depending on opener Azan Awais’ brilliant 105.

Young Bangladeshi pacer Iqbal Hossain Emon struck in the fourth over as he sent back Pakistani opener Shahzaib Khan for six before striking again to bowl out Shamyl Hussain, and Pakistan were two down for 67 after the 18th over.

Skipper Saad Baig then partnered with Awais to make a 126-run stand to take Pakistan out of harm’s way. Saad scored 51 before being caught off Parvez Rahman Jibon. Alongside Awais’s ton, Amir Hassan scored a quick 29 off just 18 balls to take his team to 271.

Emon was the most successful Bangladesh bowler as he took four wickets including the wicket of Awais. Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby three for 52 while Wasi Siddiquee and Parvez took one each.

Bangladesh, in return, were bowled out for 193, ensuring Pakistan’s series win over the hosts with the third game to be played on Thursday.

Mohammad Shihab James top scored with 42 while Adil scored the second most for the Young Tigers with 40. Zakaria Islam Shanto scored 24 while skipper Ahrar Amin scored another 23.

For Pakistan, Muhammad Ismail took three wickets.
