Mahmudullah Riyad guides Mohammedan Sporting Club to a four wicket a win over the Legends of Rupganj in the final matchday of the Dhaka Premier League at BKSP-3 Ground in Savar on Saturday.
It was Mohammedan’s second win in the Super League phase of the DPL.
With the win, Mohammedan finished fifth in the tournament.
Earlier, Abahani Limited defeated Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to clinch the title in a ‘winner takes all’ final round match up.
Winning the toss, Mohammedan sent Legends of Rupganj to bat first where they put a total of 298-7 depending on Sabbi Rahman’s 82 and Irfan Shukur’s 78.
Fardin Hasan scored 44 for the Legends of Rupganj while chirag Jani made 33.
For Mohammedan, Abu Jayed Rahi teeok three wickets while Ruyel Miah took two.
Coming to chase Rupganj’s 298, Mohammedan reached the target in a final over drama depending on Soumya Sarker’s 102.
This was Soumya’s first first-class century in four years. The last time Soumya made a century was in 2019 when he struck 208, playing for Abahani Limited.
