FC Barcelona lifted their 27th La Liga title as their captain Sergio Busquets, who will be leaving after the season ends, bid goodbye to the Camp Nou, Barca’s home stadium, as he lifted his 32nd title for the club.
Their title celebrations, which was confirmed in their last game against Espanyol, was dented by a 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad but that did not stop the players and staff from celebrating their first league title in four years exuberantly.
“Once again I want to thank the players who are not there and the players of the subsidiary who have helped us win this title. Also to the people of the staff who make us be in the best conditions.
“We wanted to win titles but we have achieved it as a team and with great fans. Without you it would not have been possible. Do not doubt that this has only just begun,” Busquets said in his speech after lifting the trophy.
“We are very grateful. Thanks to all the staff and all the players, who have left their skin on the field. And to tell you that without you it would not have been the same. You have been spectacular,” Barcelona manager Xavi said in his speech after winning his first league title as a manager.
