Bashundhara Kings made a comeback to beat Sheikh Russel KC 2-1 to finish the 2023 Federation Cup on the podium as they took home the third-place award at the Bashundhara Sports Complex in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Kings’ Brazilian duo Robson Robinho and Miguel Ferreira scored the goals for Kings after Charles Didier had given Sheikh Russel the early advantage.

In the semi-finals, Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Kings to advance to the finals while Abahani Limited defeated Sheikh Russel, resulting in the two losing sides facing each other for the third-place decider.

In the 6th minute of the match, Kings Defender Topu Barman fouled Didier inside the penalty area, which the referee saw clearly and awarded a penalty to Sheikh Russel.

Didier made no mistake to take his side ahead just eight minutes into the game.

Conceding early, Kings were on the offensive as they tried to get the goal back before half time but Sheikh Russel did well to thwart every Kings attack.

Kings enjoyed majority of the possession in the second half and were more organised in their attack. And that bore fruit as Robson Robinho broke into the Sheikh Russel defence and found the bottom corner to bring them level.

And in the first minute of stoppage time, Ferreira produced a beautiful curling effort to hand Kings the third-place award.
