Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to play in the upcoming edition of the Sri Lankan Premier League for the first time as he has signed a direct contract with the franchise Galle Gladiators, as per Sri Lankan media reports.
Shakib, Liton Das, and Afif Hossain were the only three players from Bangladesh to be named for the draft of the tournament.
The tournament is set to start on July 30, when Bangladesh National Team are not scheduled to have any matches.
Shakib is currently out with a right index finger injury as he got injured during Bangladesh’s three-match ODI series against Ireland earlier this year.
The franchise league will have five teams participating this season and the teams will have to recruit their players from the auction to be held on June 11, but the teams are open to directly sign players before the auction.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has signed for Colombo Strikers while South African superstar David Miller will play for the Jaffna Kings. Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been signed by Kendy Falcons.
