Abahani on top with back-to-back wins

Abahani Limited moved up to the top of the points table in the Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League 2022-23 with back-to-back wins as they beat Keraniganj Cricket Academy at the BKSP-3 ground in Savar on Saturday.

Keraniganj won the toss and decided to bat first but their innings did not go as planned as Abahani’s Sandiha Islam Asha wreaked havoc on their batting line and they were bowled out for 105.

The Abahani spinner took three wickets giving away only eight runs.

Keraniganj scored 105, 50 out of which came from skipper Shahnaz Parvin. The opener kept her cool to fight the Abahani bowlers and anchored their innings till the 41st over, playing 140 balls to complete her half-century.

No other batter from the Keraniganj side could reach double digits.

Coming to chase Keraniganj’s 105, Abahani reached the target with seven wickets and 29.1 overs in hand.

Abahani opener Murshida Khatun Happy batted till the end to take her side to victory as she was unbeaten for 44 off 56 balls. Ishma Tanjin scored 24 while Afiya Anam fired a 20 off 10 balls. Keraniganj’s Sharmin Akter took two wickets while skipper Parvin took the other.

The other two matches of the day, Rupali Bank Krira Parishad against Kalabagan KC and BKSP against Gulshan Youth Club were called off due to rain.
