Bangladesh A found themselves in an impossible run-chase of 461 on the fourth day of the third and final four-day match against the West Indies A after the Caribbeans declared their second innings on 220-5 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet on Thursday.

Bangladesh A were batting on 47-0 at the end of the third day with Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan unbeaten on 28 and 14. They need another 414 runs on

the match’s final day to win and save the series. After a disasterclass in the batting on the second day, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Nasum Ahmed being not-out the previous day, started their innings on the third day for Bangladesh A on 157-7.

However, Bangladesh were bowled out for 205 adding only 48 runs. Bangladesh trailed the West Indies by 240 runs, meaning, if the visitors wanted, they could have forced the hosts to follow on.

The Caribbeans decided to bat their second innings and added another 220 to their 240 runs lead before declaring their innings, setting an almost impossible target of 461 for Bangladesh.

Opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul shined in their second innings as well he repeated his innings from the first day and scored unbeaten 83. Skipper Joshua Da Silva added 47 off 40 balls before getting bowled by Bangladeshi spinner Nasum. Tevin Imlach was not out on 28. Bangladesh would need an aggressive approach to chase the target within a day, and the way their openers started their innings might give them an edge on the final day.
