Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the squad for their only Test match against Bangladesh in Dhaka starting from June 14 with Afghan allrounder Rashid Khan rested.
Spin bowler Mujeeb Ur Rahman was also not included in the squad.
Afghanistan are among the newest Test playing countries, having played only six Test matches so far.
The sides have played only one Test match previously as a part of a bilateral series in 2019 when Afghanistan won the one-off Test by 244 runs in Chattogram.
Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the itinerary for Afghanistan’s Tour of Bangladesh 2023 where they will play one Test, three One-day internationals, and two Twenty-20 internationals.
Their only Test match against Bangladesh will start on June 14 at the Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Afghanistan Squad: Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Rahmat Shah Zarmati (assistant captain), Afsar Khan Zazai (wk), Ikram Ali Khil (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Abdul Malik, Nasir Jamal, Bhair Shah, Karim Jannat, Izharul Haq Naveed, Zahir Khan, Hamza Hotak, Ibrahim Abdul Rahimzai, Najat Masood and Yamin Ahmadzai.
Reserves: Zia-ul-Rahman Akbar, Azmatullah Umarzai, Noor Ali Zadran, Syed Ahmed Sherzad.
