Women cricketers’ salaries to go up

The salaries of the female cricketers under contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board will increase, as per BCB President Nazmul Hassan.

Following the eighth meeting of the BCB Board of Directors, the BCB president disclosed the information.

“We have decided to increase the match fee and monthly salaries of the women cricketers. We have decided today (Monday) to increase it a good amount. But there is no end to doing well. There are 25 girls on our list. The match fee of the first-class cricketers has also been raised,” he told the media on Monday.

Those who received salaries of Tk 60,00 will see their salaries raised to Tk 1 lakh, while players with a salary of Tk 35,000 will see theirs increased to Tk 60,000.

Nazmul also said they were going to launch a television channel of their own, following the disinterest of the local media to broadcast domestic games.

“We have been facing problems with broadcasting matches. Especially during the Bangladesh Premier League, nobody participated. This is very sad. They show a lot of games but have no interest in broadcasting our games. We have applied for BCB TV. Hopefully, we will get it. Then, we will face no problem in broadcasting games. Not just international matches, we will be able to broadcast domestic games too,” the BCB president said.
