Bangladesh will take on Cambodia in a FIFA Tier-1 International friendly match today in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

The match will kick off at 6 PM Bangladesh time at the Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity of thirty thousand. All the tickets for the match had already been sold out.

Bangladesh Men’s National Football Team’s head coach Javier Cabrera believed that the match against Cambodia would be very beneficial to the preparation of the team ahead of the SAFF Championship in India, starting on June 21.

“We have several tournaments to play this year. World Cup qualification is very important, but now we’re only focusing on the SAFF tournament, the most important tournament in South Asia,” Cabrera said at the press conference.

Bangladesh skipper Jamal Bhuyan said that they had been practising for the last 10 days and their main focus was SAFF Championship.

Cambodia are currently 176th in the FIFA rankings, while Bangladesh are 192nd. Even though Bangladesh are ranked lower, they have a good head-to-head record against Cambodia, as Bangladesh had never lost a game against them, and to add to that, Jamal said they were going to give them a fight.

The captain said, “Playing against them in the local environment will be tough. I think it will be a good match because Cambodia has some quality players and we’re looking forward to the match.”

Cambodia National Football Team’s trainer Felix Augustin Gonzalez Dalmas and national team player Kouch Sokumpheak were also present at the press conference.

Earlier, Bangladesh national football team practised at the match venue ahead of the match yesterday evening.
