Shakib, Liton gets NOC for GT20

Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das have received the No-Objection Certificates for their participation in the upcoming GT20 in Canada.

Shakib has also received the NOC for the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League in Sri Lanka.

Shakib will play for Montreal Tigers in the Canadian league, while Liton will play for Surrey Jaguars.

The duo received the NOC because the national team does not have any scheduled matches during the period. The GT20 in Canada will start on July 20, and end on August 6. On the other hand, LPL will start on July 30 and end on August 20.

BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Jalal Yunus told the media that the duo received the NOC because the Tigers are free during that period.

“There is no national duty right now. We talked to the head coach and the team management and then gave them the clearance. At this point, we want them to play competitive cricket anywhere they can. We want them to play as much competitive as possible ahead of the World Cup,” he told the media on Sunday.

With the Asia Cup in September and the World Cup in October, there are concerns regarding either Shakib or Liton getting injured or fatigued. However, Jalal said they were not worried about it as both tournaments are T20 ones.

“There are no problems regarding injuries. Our fast bowlers are getting injured more. Neither Shakib nor Liton is injury-prone. Maybe they get injured while playing. That is a different thing. As this is a shorter format, so we allowed it,” he said.

Jalal also revealed that the team would be training ahead of the Asia Cup from August 20 before heading to Sri Lanka and Pakistan for the tournament.

He added that both Liton and Shakib were expected to return to Bangladesh from their franchise ventures before the camp starts, which is scheduled to be in Bogura.
