After being recalled to ODI squad, Afif Hossain found a place in Bangladesh T20 squad also for the two-match series against Afghanistan next month.

Alongside Afif, fast bowler Ebadot Hossain was also recalled, while Jaker Ali Anik was the only omission from the squad that played its last T20 series against Ireland in March.

Jaker Ali however, didn't play a single match in the series, which Bangladesh won by 2-1.

Afif lost his place in the T20 squad following the series against England after playing a record 61 matches at a stretch for the country.

Afif made his T20 debut against Sri Lanka in 2018, a match in which he fell for a duck and subsequently lost his place. Thereafter, he made a comeback with a tri-nation series in Mirpur in 2019. After scoring 26 ball-52 against Zimbabwe in that series, he never looked back and made him an integral part of the side.

However, his place in limited-over cricket became vulnerable once Chandika Hathurusingha started his second coaching stint in Bangladesh. Afif firstly lost his place from ODI and then T20 as Hathurusingha made it clear that the batter was dropped due to his performance.

He, however, forced his case stronger with 550 runs in 15 matches in Dhaka Premier League (DPL). His strike rate was 110.66, a thing that was instrumental to recall him in the ODI squad too.

Ebadot meanwhile, played his last T20 matches against Pakistan in Adelaide during the T20 World Cup in 2022. Following his poor performance in death overs, he was dropped. But he kept performing superb in ODI and Test cricket.

"Both Ebadot and Afif did well to be recalled," BCB chief selector Minhajul Abdin Nannu said. "They were in our radar always. Jaker Ali is also in our plan. Just we want to increase our options."

After the three-match ODI series, Bangladesh take on Afghanistan for the two-match T20 series, scheduled to be held on June 14 and 16 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh had just won the one-off Test, crushing Afghanistan for record 546 runs.
