Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza believes that opening batsman Anamul Hoque Bijoy can be considered to start the innings in the Twenty-over format.

Mashrafe, who played for Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, deemed the One-Day International and Test squad to be well settled and that Anamul’s inclusion in the best eleven of these two formats seemed to be unlikely.

He suggested that that the highest run-scorer in DPL history, Anamul, can be included as an opener in the T20 squad.

“You can’t replace Liton and Tamim in ODIs; they have performed and so it’s difficult for Bijoy to make to the eleven even if he’s in the squad,” Mashrafe said on Bijoy’s possible inclusion in the ODI squad.

“I’m not quite sure who’ll open in Tests but Joy had scored a century in South Africa and Tamim is set as the other opener.

“Now there is an opportunity to set Bijoy as an opener in T20Is but this is my opinion,” Mashrafe said after his match on Thursday.

The 38-years old seamer managed to scalp 20 wickets for Legends at an economy rate of 5.45, helping his team to finish the DPL as runners-up.

Legends won their final match of the season beating champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by eight wickets, where Mashrafe returned with figures of 1-21.
