Tight bowling from the Bangladesh bowlers put Sri Lanka under pressure as the Lankans struggled to get runs in their Asia Cup Super-Four match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday.

Sri Lanka were down to 176-5 after 40 overs as Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dasun Shanaka were batting on the pitch on 39 off 40 balls and six from 11 balls.

Hasan Mahmud struck again in the 38th over to send Dhananjaya de Silva back to the pavilion after he had brought the first breakthrough for the Tigers in the sixth over.

Shoriful Islam also struck twice to pick the wickets of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis while Taskin Ahmed bagged the wicket of Charith Asalanka.

In the group phase, Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka by a big margin. Bangladesh were also defeated in their first Super-Four match against Pakistan in Lahore.
