Bangladesh national cricket team survived a scare in Dubai as they barely managed to edge past UAE in a tight match where the Tigers came out with a win by seven runs.

Batting first, Bangladesh managed to post 158-5 on board, courtesy of a brilliant unbeaten 77 from Afif Hossain, where he hit seven fours and three sixes. Skipper Nurul Hasan Sohan scored an unbeaten 35 off 25 deliveries.

In reply, UAE got off to a good start and were on course to a win, but some brilliance from Mehidy Hasan Miraz with the ball and on the field in the middle overs allowed Bangladesh to bring themselves back into the tie.

But still, the hosts managed to bring it down to 11 from six deliveries in the final over with two wickets in hand, courtesy of some poor fielding and catching from Bangladesh.

Shoriful Islam managed to take both in the final over to ensure the Tigers did not fall prey to an upset in their start for the preparations of the World Cup.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh skipper Nurul lost the toss and they were put in to bat.

None from the top six but Afif could contribute as Bangladesh were down to 77-5 by the 11th over.

From there, Afif and Nurul put together an 81-run stand to rescue the Tigers and give them a fighting score as Afif stayed unbeaten on a career-best 77, which included two dropped catches.
