Bangladesh Football Federation has called up English club Ipswich Town’s striker Yousuf Zulqurnain Hoque to the 38-man preliminary squad for the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2022 Qualification in Kuwait in October.
Yousuf plays for the Under-18 side of Ipswich Town, who currently play in the League One of England, the third tier of English football. The 17-year-old striker joined the Ipswich Town academy in 2019.
He is the only foreign-based player called up to the preliminary squad.
Among the others, national team players Tariq Kazi, Bishwanath Ghosh, Mahbubur Rahman Sufil, Rahmat Mia, Manik Hossain Molla, Mitul Marma and Biplo Ahmed have also been called up.
Saif Sporting SC have the most representation in the squad as 10 players from their team have been called up. Six players from Bangladesh Premier League Champions Basundhara Kings have also been called up.
