Bangladesh on Tuesday called up young pacer Shoriful Islam in their 15-man squad for the first Test of two-match series against Sri Lanka, beginning on Wednesday in Sri Lanka’s Kandy.
A member of Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup-winning squad, Shoriful made his limited over debut during recent tour in New Zealand but was yet to play any Test.
The squad for the first Test announced on Tuesday also included uncapped Yasir Ali, a 25-year-old batsman from Chattogram, who was in Bangladesh for few series did not get a chance play any game.
Selectors chose the squad for the first Test from a 21-member preliminary squad, which travelled to Sri Lanka on April 12 and played an intra-squad match as part of their preparation for the series.
Bangladesh lost eight of their previous nine Tests, including a series against a deflated West Indies team in February.
The second Test of the series will also be held Kandy from April 29 to May 3.
