Bangladesh Cricketers are highly unlikely to play in the second season of the Lanka Premier League, scheduled to start from July 30, as the Tigers will play five Twenty20 International matches against Australia in the first week of August.

Six Bangladesh cricketers- Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar have registered their names for the LPL this year.

But all of them are regulars in the Tigers T20 squad and likely to feature in the five-match T20 series against Australia that will take place between August 2 to August 8 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Mirpur.

Bangladesh Cricket Board's cricket operations chairman Akram Khan told The Business Post that national team duty comes first.

"For our players, the national team always comes first. If the schedule collides, then they have to take part in the national team’s matches. They can join (the LPL) after the series," Akram told TBP.

The BCB has offered a new contract for the players where they can choose which format an individual wants to play and prior mentioning of participating in a foreign league.

The contract is yet to be signed and BCB has not disclosed the players under their contract.

Akram earlier told the media that 80% of the players had signed the agreement.
