Bangladesh cruise past Oman XI

Bangladesh beat Oman XI by a comfortable 60-run margin in their warm-up game before heading to the UAE for the official warm-up games of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Batting first, Bangladesh put up a mammoth 207-4 courtesy of fifties from Liton Das and Naim Sheikh up top and a late Nurul Hasan Sohan cameo of 49 from 15 deliveries.

In reply, Oman XI showed a valiant effort but all they could manage was 147-9 in their 20 overs.

Shoriful Islam was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers as he picked up three wickets, whereas Mohammad Saifuddin picked up a couple.

In regular skipper Mahmudullah Riyad’s absence, Liton led the Bangladesh side.

Winning the toss, Oman XI skipper Aamir Kaleem put Bangladesh into bat first.

For the opening stand, Naim and Liton put together a 102-run stand as they both went on to pick the fifties.

But after Liton’s dismissal for 53 off 33 deliveries, Bangladesh had a slump as they lost the wickets of Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Afif Hossain in the space of six deliveries.

But Naim carried on and on 63, he had to retire hurt. And then, the Nurul show began.
The wicketkeeper-batsman hit seven sixes in his innings and with a little help from Shamim Hossain, who scored 19 off 10, Nurul took Bangladesh to 207.

In reply, Oman XI lost both their openers in the first two overs and then lost another wicket by the end of the power play.

The only respite in the middle-order came from Shoaib Khan, who scored 43 before he got run out.

Rafiullah provided the crowd with some entertainment at the end as he scored 31 off 14 deliveries, including four sixes, before getting out on the final delivery of the match as Oman XI ended on 147-9.
