Bangladesh Under-20 national football team drew 1-1 in their last match of the group stage which helped them to secure their spot in the finals of the U20 SAFF Championships 2022 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India on Tuesday.
Bangladesh striker Piash Ahmed Nova scored Bangladesh’s goal in the 63rd minute but Nepal soon scored the equaliser, courtesy substitute midfielder Niranjan Malla, who delivered a thumping left-footed strike to beat Bangladesh goalkeeper Mohammad Asif.
Despite Nepal dominating the first half, Bangladesh came back strongly in the second before both teams were reduced to 10-men following a scuffle between the players that saw Bangladesh’s Mohammad Shahidul and Nepal’s Dipesh Gurang get sent off in the 51st minute as both team played with 1-men for the remaining of the second 45.
Bangladesh had chances to kill to kill the game in the dying minutes virtue of a host of chances but failed to find the net as it ended 1-1.
