Bangladesh managed to avoid a clean sweep at home as they beat England by 50 runs to win the third and final One-Day International of the series, reducing the margin to 2-1.

Shakib Al Hasan was the star of the show as he first scored 75 runs with the bat and then picked up four wickets to dismantle the English batting lineup.

Alongside Shakib, Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain picked up two wickets each, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mustafizur Rahman picking up one each.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted 246 on the board, courtesy of 75 off 71 balls from Shakib, alongside Mushfiqur Rahim’s 70 and Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 53.

In reply, England were off to a cracker as Phil Salt (35) and Jason Roy (19) added 54 runs in nine overs before Shakib removed the latter.

In the next over, Ebadot got Dawid Malan (0) and Shakib then rattled Roy’s stumps.

Bangladesh looked on top at that moment but Sam Curran (23), who was promoted to number five, put together a 49-run stand with James Vince (38) before the left-handed batter tried a nothing shot against Miraz and gave a dolly to Liton Das at long-off.

Vince was gone soon too as Shakib produced a beauty to find his edge, and then Ebadot struck again to clatter Moeen’s (2) stumps.

However, England skipper Jos Buttler (26) continued to be a thorn in the Tigers’ throat as he was putting together a partnership with Chris Woakes (34). But that did not last long as the English captain tried to reverse sweep Taijul and was trapped LBW.

Taijul then struck again as he rattled Adil Rashid’s stumps (8) before Shakib returned to get rid of Rehan Ahmed (2) with Miraz taking a brilliant catch at short mid-wicket, which was the left-arm spinner’s 300th ODI wicket.

Shakib almost got a five-for when Jofra Archer was given LBW on the final ball of his spell but a review saved the English batter and denied the all-rounder the achievement.

Nonetheless, England lasted only one ball after that as Woakes gave a return catch to Mustafiz to put an end to the English innings on 196.
