Bangladesh got off to a brilliant start in their SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship as they thrashed Bhutan 8-0 at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mustofa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Sauravi Akand Prity scored a brilliant hat-trick coming on as a substitute in the second half.

Bangladesh did not take long to start the goal feast as Umehla Marma opened the goal feast in the seventh minute. Thuinuye Marma and Jounob Bibi Rita made it 3-0 before half-time.

Bangladesh U-15 trainer Golam Rabbani Choton made two substitutes at half-time and with the changes, Bangladesh’s attack only got deadlier with Prity and Kanon Rani Bahadur coming in.

Bangladesh attackers made the Bhutan defence look non-existent as they failed to stop any of the attacks from the Bangladeshi girls.

Kanon Rani scored the first goal in the second half in the 50th minute to make it 4-0. Prity then took it on herself by scoring in the 68th, 73rd and 92nd minute to make it 8-0 till the final whistle was blown. In between Prity’s hat-trick, Umehla scored her second goal in the 76th minute.

Bangladesh captain Ruma Akter was hurt trying to defend a Bhutan attack and was carried off on a stretcher to the sidelines in the 58th minute.

Bangladesh will face Nepal in their second match of the tournament on Saturday, November 5 at the same venue.
