Bangladesh national women’s team came down on Bhutan with everything as the women in red and green handed an 8-0 thrashing to confirm their spot in the final of the Women’s SAFF Championship 2022 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal on Friday.
Skipper Sabina Khatun scored her second hat-trick of the tournament, taking her tally to eight goals, while Sirat Jahan Shopna, Srimoti Sarker, Ritu Porna Chakma, Masura Parvin, and Tohura Khatun all got their names on the score sheet.
With this win, Bangladesh qualified for the final for only the second time in the competition’s history.
Their best result came in 2016, when they lost 3-1 to India in the grand finale. The women in red and green will face either India or Nepal in the final.
On their way to the semi-final, Bangladesh defeated Maldives 3-0, Pakistan 6-0, and five-time champions India 3-0.
