Bangladesh national football team will take on hosts and defending Champions Maldives tonight at 10 PM in their third game of the 2021 SAFF Championship at the Maldives National Stadium.

Bangladesh have had a good start to the tournament as they claimed four points from two games. Maldives, on the other hand, lost their only game so far to Nepal 1-0.

A win against Maldives will see Bangladesh take the top spot ahead of Nepal, who currently sit top with six points from two games.

Bangladesh will go in the match without right-back Bishwanath Ghosh and winger Rakib Hossain as both are suspended. Rahmat Miah is likely to replace Bishwanath whereas Sohel Rana might come in to replace Rakib.

Ahead of the match, Bangladesh head coach Oscar Bruzon said that they will look to exploit Maldives’ defensive problems.

“Maldives’ four players up front are differential. We need to play very smart and stay concentrated to keep a clean sheet. But I’m sure tomorrow we will not be playing against the best defence of the tournament. I think this is going to be a good opportunity to start getting those goals,” he said.

Bangladesh got another boost ahead of the game as rivals India were held to a stalemate by Sri Lanka. That leaves India at third position with two points whereas Bangladesh sit second with four.
