Bangladesh women's cricket team on Tuesday beat Sri Lanka by six wickets to start the three-match T20 international series at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
This was Bangladesh’s first win against the Lankans in 14 years in the format.
Sri Lanka set a target of 146 for the Tigress as they opted to bat first winning the toss.
Chasing the total, Bangladesh reached the target with six wickets to spare courtesy of skipper Nigar Sultana’s 75 off just 51 balls.
Ritu Moni scored 33 and Sobhana Mostary scored 17 while Bangladeshi leg-spinner Fahima Khatun bagged two wickets.
Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka for the second T20I on Thursday.
