Bangladesh Cricket Board is planning to have a full house in the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from the second one-day international between Bangladesh and Afghanistan on February 25, a BCB director said on Tuesday.
The first ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan on Wednesday will have 3,000-4,000 spectators present, BCB had earlier informed.
But as the Bangladesh government has lifted all Covid-19 restrictions, BCB is planning to allow a full crowd, meaning 18,000 spectators at the ZACS.
“We are planning to have a full house from the second ODI. As there are no restrictions from the government anymore, we can do it. We are now waiting for the tickets of those two matches to come to our hands,” BCB director and media committee chairman Tanvir Ahmed Titu told The Business Post on Tuesday.
Titu added they thought of doing it from the first ODI but could not.
“We wanted to sell all the tickets from the first match, but it was not possible at the last moment as the tickets had already been printed and there was no option to print more tickets,” he said.
The tickets for the first match were sold at a sole counter at BITAC more in Chattogram, but Titu added that the number of counters will increase, and the tickets may be sold online.
“We will also increase the number of booths to sell tickets as more tickets will be sold. We are also planning to sell some tickets online, but as we did not have any prior preparation, that cannot be surely said,” he said.
The three ODIs between Bangladesh and Afghanistan are on February 23, 25, and 28. After the ODI series, the teams will return to Dhaka for a two-match T20I series, scheduled for March 3 and 5.
